I researched this phenomena. Kenyon and Burnham set up their Makerfield X accounts at the same time and posted their first campaign video on the same day.

Level starting point. Perfect for analysis.

Kenyon's video got 38 times the impressions in the first 6 hours. It was up to 105x more impressions after 24 hours.

So whats the difference?

Simple. Knowing how X algorithms work, and exploiting them.

X has various boosts available. These are the ones I found that relate directly to these two accounts.

1, Bypassing political throttling. New accounts created in the UK are throttled from political content (means less reach). Ones created in the US aren't. Burnham's account was created in the UK. Kenyons account was created in the US. Kenyon boosted!

2, Being 'trusted'. Oh the irony. Accounts created in the US are automatically 'high trust'. Mainly due to the fact that the largest chunk of ad revenue is from US accounts. X want more people to see them as it means more $. Kenyon boosted!

3, Paying for Premium Plus immediately. Being premium plus gets you boosted (we all know that), but doing it on a new account amplifies it. It's a double boost. X want s to encourage new paying users. But also wants to check the virality of new accounts. Kenyon boosted!

4, Geographic changes. Burnham's account hasn't been altered since creation. Kenyon's account has moved from the US to the UK, with billing set up in Ireland. The original metadata for the account remains (no political throttling etc.), but it now gets boosted in two more geographic regions. UK and EU. Kenyon boosted!

5, The artificial echo chamber effect. All reform accounts are boosted. Thats obvious. But they all get a further boost from @ mentioning other boosted accounts, or reposting. Because Kenyon's account is high trust (from being US registered), each repost is treated like a new post. If it's also from a boosted account. More boost. Why do you think every public figure in Reform has posted a picture with Kenyon? You guessed it. Kenyon boosted.

That's 5 ways to boost content. Let's not forget Burnham was well known. Kenyon was unknown. But layer upon layer of deliberate boosting means it doesn't matter.
