My audiobook is out today! Teachers and educators of all age levels can now listen to stories about the involvement of pupils in classroom decision-making and the positive impact on learners and educators alike #ItsOurSchool#MotivationalClassrooms#StudentVoice#Participation
Seeds are the basis of life, yet the rights of small farmers to use them are under threat.
With @CAFOD, I'm calling on the @WorldBank to protect the fundamental rights of communities to choose the seeds they use. Join me here 👇 https://t.co/wdtCPTIHgt
@Emma_Turner75 Edmund Holmes in 1911 described the nurturing process of education: ‘The process of growing must be done by the growing organism, by the child, let us say, and by no one else. The child himself must take in and assimilate the nourishment that is provided for him.’
“With sorrow I inform you that the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI, passed away today at 9:34 in the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in the Vatican.
Further information will be provided as soon as possible.”
@GauravDubay3@TheWritingWeb@adamboxer1@KristianStill It’s partly about them learning how decisions for a group are made by people with more experience than they have, as an introduction to bringing them into that process and learning how to take part in group and civic decision-making themselves.
@TheWritingWeb@GauravDubay3@adamboxer1@KristianStill One starting point: ask pupils what they would like more of a say in, about how lessons are planned. Tell them about the decisions you make on their behalf and how you made your choices, and about your dilemma over pupil voice. They will be interested and will help you.
@Headteacherchat First step with difficult customers: really listen without defending yourself and check out what you have heard: ‘…so you feel that I’m not giving your son the attention he needs and now he’s afraid to speak in my lessons?’ It’s the not being heard that feeds aggression.
@mrlev@Headteacherchat@well_schools In my 40 years in education I have been on the lookout for collaborative decision making in schools and have found that many teachers do it some of the time but that CDM must be built into the culture in order to thrive. My book provides 25 real life stories of CDM #ItsOurSchool
@Katy_primary97 So maybe ask them if they feel the same way as you about how it feels to be in this classroom and ask what you and they (not just you!) could do about it. You might even share the ideas from here and ask for their opinions.#collaborativedecisionmaking#ItsOurSchool
@Katy_primary97 Good morning Katy. I really feel for you and what to do with all this thoughtful advice. In my research, pupils became much more responsible when teachers brought them into conversations about class behaviour. Even 4-5 year olds can problem solve with their teacher.
@DowningAndy @MrsRWilkes @Positivteacha I vote for the No logo so friends and siblings can hand down clothing more widely. Why are schools even having ties and blazers options anyway? Why these and not other (hairnet/cap/hoodie/hi vis jacket….) ‘options’?
