MID-TERM REVIEW: We are half way through this term of City Council and we’ve done so much with more to do! Thank you for all of your feedback in helping to improve our city. Here are some highlights of our work in #Brampton over the past two years.
For more about what we’ve done together read the full post (https://t.co/yc1YTk57Al) and share your ideas.
Our message is clear: we're making Brampton and Peel Region the most inconvenient place in Canada to commit a crime.
We've now successfully installed 50 state-of-the-art 360° cameras across the city, supporting more than 200 police investigations in six months since the first cameras were deployed.
By working closely with Peel Regional Police and investing in innovative technology, we're taking a proactive approach to protecting our neighbourhoods, supporting law enforcement and disrupting organized crime.
Congrats to all the runners, volunteers and the inspirational steps organizing committee for a terrific Brampton Half Marathon despite rainy conditions. 2100 registrations. This event continues to grow every year!
Safe public spaces for all! Winter of 2023 until Summer of 2025, we dealt with historic numbers of encampments in concentrated areas that I represent in #Brampton Wards 1&5. Our approach required significant push and collaboration between City Parks, Security, our Community Safety Office, Peel Police, and the Region of Peel. Our efforts led to a Housing First Encampment Protocol and Policy adopted in 2025, resulting in now zero encampments, on public spaces. It was a very difficult process to navigate with incredible learning and best practices to share. More info here: https://t.co/BQ9jpg4GTC
In addition to increased support for mental health and addictions, we also advocated for compassionate intervention (as Mayor Brown states above) because the status quo isn’t working. See link and many other links regarding our journey to address encampments in #Brampton.
The City of Brampton is welcoming a $200,000 investment from @TennisCanada and @Rogers to expand access to tennis and create more opportunities for residents to play year-round at Gore Meadows Community Centre! 🎉
With support for six new tennis courts and an air-supported dome, this investment will help turn Gore Meadows into a four-season destination for sport, recreation and community activity. It also builds on the City’s ongoing investment in Gore Meadows as a premier recreation destination for residents, families and visitors in #Brampton. 🎾
For residents, it means more chances to stay active close to home. For the community, it means stronger recreation spaces, more local sport opportunities and new stories shaped through play.

Yesterday, the @CityBrampton marked Gujarat Day and Maharashtra Day with a flag raising ceremony recognizing two communities with deep roots, rich traditions and a meaningful presence in Brampton.
Gujarat Day and Maharashtra Day offer a moment to recognize the heritage, culture and community spirit of Brampton’s Gujarati and Maharashtrian communities, whose contributions continue to shape the place we call home.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for the National Day of Mourning Ceremony.
Today and every day, we remember the lives lost and the countless others affected by work-related injuries and illnesses. We reflect on the importance of workplace safety and the need for continued efforts to prevent tragedies and protect the well-being of all workers.
Together with @RegionOfPeel, @TownOfCaledon, @CityMississauga,
@CanadianLabour, @WHSCTraining and Peel Regional Labour Council, we reaffirm our commitment to creating safer, healthier and more inclusive work environments for everyone.

Last night at Festival of Literary Diversity at The Rose Theatre — and what an incredible celebration of stories, voices and community.
Now in its 11th year, Festival of Literary Diversity continues to put Brampton on the map as a champion for diverse and underrepresented authors. From powerful conversations to inspiring storytelling, it was amazing to see so many residents come together to connect through literature.
A big thank you to Jael Richardson for her vision and leadership in building something truly special right here in our city.
Brampton is proud to support events like this that celebrate inclusion, creativity and the power of storytelling. If you haven’t checked it out yet, the festival runs until tomorrow — don’t miss it! 📚
Stories, live jazz and community took centre stage yesterday evening at The Rose Brampton for The Great Readception: A Literary Cabaret. 🎶
Presented by @TheFOLD_ as part of Brampton Book Week, the event featured six authors sharing selections of their work alongside a live jazz band, with Brampton’s own Carmen Spada helping set the tone for the evening.
The event celebrated the voices, experiences and creative energy shaping Brampton’s literary scene, while giving residents a chance to connect through books, live performance and storytelling. 📚
Brampton Book Week runs through to May 3, with events across the city celebrating writers, readers and storytellers of all backgrounds.

Honoured to speak at @Embrave_ca’s 4th annual #Celebrave Gala last night in #Brampton along with Cllr @Navjitkaurbrar and Cllr @RoweSantos.
It was an important evening to raise funds for Embrave and a recognition of the growing impact of their programs to help survivors of gender-based violence.
We had 9905 calls for help to @PeelPolice last year for intimate partner violence. Gender based violence remains one of the leading causes of homicide in Canada. As a society, we must and we will do better. Supporting Embrave is one way to help!
The @CityBrampton proclaims May 1 as Gujarat and Maharashtra Day 🇮🇳
With more than 80,000 Gujaratis and Maharashtrians calling Brampton home, this day celebrates a vibrant community whose culture, traditions and contributions continue to shape our city ✨
From rich artistic expression to strong community leadership, Gujarati and Maharashtrian residents bring energy, connection and pride into every part of Brampton.
Today and every day, we recognize and celebrate the heritage, diversity and lasting impact of these communities 💙🧡💚
The MedTech Task Force has officially concluded after a four-year journey helping position Brampton as a growing hub for health and life sciences innovation.
This initiative brought together leaders from industry, healthcare, academia, and government to advance research, accelerate commercialization, and support job creation in our city.
Thank you to all our stakeholders for your collaboration, insights, and continued commitment to driving MedTech excellence forward in Brampton.
As we move ahead, we will be advancing key initiatives including a Wet Lab Strategy and a Diabetes Innovation Centre to continue building on this momentum.
Thank you to everyone who supported this work. Stay tuned for more updates🙏🏽✅
