This large study has a positive result that needs to be highlighted:

We must do it.

Wow.! LiverTox now has information on over 1400 drugs and herbal products described in 1290 different chapters with more than 3 million words and 34,000 annotated references. #livertwitter REPOST if you sue LiverTox and find it useful
The diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis is tough!
Autoantibodies can be suggestive but to be honest they rarely clinch or rule out the diagnosis. Biopsy is helpful - unless it isn’t. In the end, it comes down to shared decisions and time
Into this fray a new paper
I'm so incredibly proud of my colleague who shined at The Liver Meeting, advocating passionately for patients with alcohol-related liver disease. @AASLDtweets @AASLDFoundation @LizLeeNP @AutoImmuneLiver @hepatoMD @zee_joanne
Common question: How fast do we need to give steroids for alcoholic hepatitis?
1⃣Not fast. No door-to-pred time. See the STOPAH protocol below. Make sure it is safe.
2⃣No need. Few will benefit, many will be harmed. Choose carefully.

Assessing the risk of surgery in patients with cirrhosis
I find myself referring to this @HepCommJournal paper by Kaltenbach and Mahmud. Turns out it has been read 1100 times in the last 4 months!!

🌟🌟How does this compare to other therapies for UC?
➡️UST/UPA trials had similar design
➡️➡️marginal gains numerically over UST
➡️➡️UPA appears meaningfully more efficacious than both UST and MIRI
➡️ not compared to VDZ or anti-TNFs; trial designs/pt. pops are very different
Naltrexone appears to be safe and effective in maintaining abstinence and decreasing craving in patients with cirrhosis who were actively drinking.
Well designed study addressing a very relevant topic.

Statin induced liver injury is super rare. Consider it but dont close your mind to other possibilities.
If you want rates of injury, just ask @bjornsson_s who studied the Swedish national register in this @JHepatology paper. https://t.co/vptZM9a57b
Hey @ianhanomansing and @checkupcbc there are a few things I wanted to address about the recent episode on private healthcare clinics. I called in and went through screening, but unfortunately didn’t make it onto the show.

We often think that our notes need to be stellar as proof of our worthiness as a physician.
The reality is that the note is just a note.
Accept reality.
Save time.
Reclaim your life.
Front story tip #1: We're not writing a NY Times bestseller here. Keep your notes brief and to the point. Imperfection is perfect. Haiku, not war and peace.
