Ugandan students and graduates received valuable guidance on pursuing higher education in the United States during a presentation by Ezra Onโrel Nuwenyine, an EducationUSA Adviser in Kampala.
EducationUSA is a global network of over 430 advising centers in more than 170 countries, providing accurate and comprehensive information for international students seeking to study in the U.S.
During the session, Nuwenyine outlined the benefits of studying in the United States, including high-quality education, world-class faculty and facilities, research opportunities, internships, and the flexibility to choose majors at the undergraduate level.
He also detailed the academic requirements for undergraduate and graduate studies, emphasizing the importance of strong grades, relevant work experience, and active engagement in school and community activities.
The adviser walked participants through the five key steps for studying in the U.S.: researching suitable institutions, financing their studies through scholarships or financial aid, completing application forms and supporting documents, applying for an F-1 student visa, and preparing for life in the U.S., including cultural adaptation and campus life.
Nuwenyine highlighted resources such as https://t.co/wXUuCIYUkN, https://t.co/cPgoeQFuUL, and https://t.co/TJsEIkXyvl, encouraging students to carefully plan their applications, explore funding opportunities, and engage with program contacts before applying.
The presentation concluded with practical advice for both undergraduate and graduate students, including preparing personal statements, recommendation letters, standardized test scores, and understanding the holistic admissions review process.
The session provided a clear roadmap for Ugandan students aspiring to study in the U.S., equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to take the next step in their academic journeys. @USEmbassyUganda #MakerereCareersFair
