How can you not get that? Nowhere does the text even suggest your idea that some may just choose to glorify God and not follow the idols

They knew Him not in the way we know Him. They knew Him in the sense that all humans by nature have an innate knowledge of Gods existence, hence so many religions, but by nature they supress that knowledge in sin and replace God for idols.

So apparently you reject salvation by grace through faith alone. clearly the gospel is not really good news then, cause by telling people who could be saved otherwise about Jesus, you now condamned them to the possibility of hell by giving them accountability
