Yesterday, someone I know told me that her friend’s sister was at an event where Trump was also present. The woman is Iranian and had the chance to speak directly with Trump.

She was astonished by how little Trump seemed to know about Iranians. According to her, Trump believes Iranians are mostly Muslims and that the majority of them want a Republican-style government - both of which, she said, couldn’t be further from the truth.

She also pushed back strongly on the rumours that Trump is old and senile, saying he is actually highly intelligent and knows exactly what he’s doing.

My takeaway from the conversation was that either someone is feeding Trump bad information, or this is all part of a deliberate strategy on his part.
