As #ASGSF is debated in Parliament today, we welcome @educationgovuk’s confirmation that funding will continue into 2026/27. We urge gov’t to work with voluntary & statutory agencies to expand access to the therapeutic support children & families rely on.

Excellent news that the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund will continue into 2026/27. Many have campaigned for this and it’s great to hear the govt announce this today. Specifics still to come but this is good news!! #ASGSF#adoption https://t.co/IWkYUJqi01
Interesting new series on BBC exploring real therapy sessions (from 13 May, iPlayer): Matt and Emma Willis explore the power of therapy and opening up in Change Your Mind, Change Your Life - "We’ve both experienced first hand the effects that it can have" https://t.co/yHG8z0g1ic
Thinking of adoptive & SGO families, therapists, social workers, friends & colleagues on the March today in London protesting the changes to the funding that will affect 1000s of vulnerable children. Wish I could join you. I’m with you in heart & mind ❤️💪🏻@ASGSF_Protest#asgsf
Cuts to the Adoption & Special Guardianship Support Fund are having a huge impact on families & the charities who support them. I’m grateful to Jenny at @thepurple_ele for speaking to me, alongside an adoptive mum who told of how vital therapy & ASGSF support is for her girls.
The government's cuts to adoption funding has once again plunged adopted children into more uncertainty, writes ITV News social affairs producer @LKilraine

@JohnRadoux@cliffe_ali I don’t follow? No one is saying these ASAs can work magic (sadly!) but there are some severely traumatised children in multiple sibling groups who need a bigger container and this can more confidently be met within an ASA.
@JohnRadoux@cliffe_ali I don’t know. You would have to ask them that. They have a multidisciplinary team, there’s PAYE, supervision, office staff and rental etc. It mounts up as any business will tell you.
@JohnRadoux@cliffe_ali Some more complex adoptive families need much more intensive wrap around care than a sole therapist can provide. Adoption Support Agencies have that kind of back-up - plus paying business overheads. They are usually not-for-profit (like FF).
The government has today announced a 40% cut in the amount that will be available per child per year from the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF) with additional cuts to other aspects of the fund.

Really shocked at the government’s decision to reduce the FAL of the ASFSF to 40% per child with no funding for assessments. I understand that they are under pressure to reduce spending, but this is so shortsighted to target our most vulnerable & traumatised children. #adoption
