In early 2016, the Turkish military trapped hundreds of Kurdish civilians inside the basements of residential buildings in the city of Cizre. For weeks, wounded civilians, university students, and children took shelter underground from Turkish shelling. Instead of allowing medical aid, Turkish forces poured gasoline into the basements and burned more than one hundred and seventy Kurdish civilians alive. Many bodies were completely incinerated, making identification impossible. Turkish state media celebrated the operation while the victims were still burning underground.
Even though the Kurds have never experienced ceasefire, the IRGC has continuously targeted them. Once again, suicide drones are striking Koya in Kurdistan.
