@NighthawkATC@mnhopper1s And your advocacy is appreciated. My post wasn't calling Mike out, I appreciate his advocacy for our profession as well. I was pointing out a teachable moment for us all.
Is there disagreement with any the points I made?
@mnhopper1s I am extending an open invitation to any AT anywhere out there who has thoughts, feelings, concerns about this thread. I will give you my personal cell # & we will set up a time to talk on the phone because I want to listen & understand. I'll help anyway I can.
@mnhopper1s The "Review" portion - when any of us say something that was out of line, offensive, or attacking (because it happens when we let our emotions get the best of us), apologize.
Own it and just apologize.
It goes a long way.
@mnhopper1s And I am not infering young professionals can't be leaders. I'm referring to any of those out there who have a following, those who have clout, and influence. Use that influence in a positive way that is constructive not destructive.
@mnhopper1s And when I say engage in conversation, I mean actually have empathetic questioning conversation. We need to drop the ego, we need to drop the power distance between the various levels of professionals, and just freaking listen.
@mnhopper1s Dale Carnegie said "seek first to understand and then be understood". Before we make a personal attack or accusations thinking that we understand where someone is coming from, actually take a moment to engage in conversation with them to understand where they're coming from.
