Today I retire 😮
32 yrs of policing across Thames Valley, MPS & @WMPolice
Looking forward to the future, I reflect on the dedicated colleagues & amazing communities I've had the privilege to serve with & serve.
Special thought to those colleagues that haven't made it 🙏🙏

You'll want to be sitting down for this bit.
Water companies are currently £82.7 billion in debt, have paid themselves £85 billion in dividends, leak over a trillion of litres of water per year, dump sewage for almost 4 million hours per year, have been convicted of over 1,200 criminal acts since 1989 and an average of 35% of your bill goes on nothing but paying more interest and yet more dividends.
And not a single company has ever lost their operating licence. 👇
National #Police Wellbeing Survey: Nearly half of all officers who responded reported being physically assaulted in the past year. Satisfaction with support offered by forces after being assaulted is "moderate" https://t.co/4qUxsdYjDD
Allow me to add a little context.
Our criminal justice system is broken. I encourage people to visit magistrates & crown courts to see it themselves.
Delays inefficiencies, anarchic & archaic practices, and, at the heart of these problems, the often farce of the jury system.
Allow me to add a little context.
The maximum capacity that the Crown Courts can sit is 130,000 days a year.
The government is - for reasons of money - forcing courts to close on 19,000 days per year.
At a time when the backlog is so bad, the govt wants to remove jury trial.
WATCH: "Stop the biased reporting," begged Victoria Teplitsky, the daughter of a Holocaust survivor shot in the Bondi massacre.
She called out ABC Australia and the mainstream media for fueling the surge in antisemitism since 10/7.
Her father, Semyon Teplitsky, 86, was shot in the leg and suffered severe blood loss. He now faces multiple surgeries as doctors attempt to save his leg, which he still may lose.
He emigrated from the former Soviet Union seeking safety in Australia—yet he is still paying the price of rampant antisemitism. 💔
Shed no tears - he should never have been released!
Trial judge famously quoted as "I think it likely that no Home Secretary, regarding the enormity of your crime, will ever think fit to show mercy by releasing you on licence".
Then came Mrs May as HS. 🤷♂️😡
A #ControlTheBleed 🩸 kit saved an 84-year-old in Cheslyn Hay.
Another saved a young shooting victim in Great Wyrley too
Small communities. Real impact.
Bleed kits save lives — it’s not just about violent crime. Many thanks to Lee Murphy and Sarah Wiggin @GWCHCommunity
🚨 NEW: The Government is set to scrap trial by jury for most cases
Only murder, rape, manslaughter and a few public interest cases will go to a jury, while all other cases will be decided by a single judge

China pressured a British university for years to stop research on human rights abuses
Documents show that Beijing spent over two years trying to silence Sheffield Hallam University over its studies on Uyghur forced labor in Xinjiang.
University staff in China reportedly faced threats from individuals believed to be linked to Chinese state security, and the school’s website was blocked in the country.
Eventually, the university refused to publish the final report by Professor Laura Murphy’s team and later banned her from continuing the research.
Murphy is now suing the university, accusing it of “sacrificing academic freedom for Chinese tuition money.”

You could almost give up 🤦♂️
This interview snippet tells me two things;
- There was a failure in leadership surrounding the protests, something I highlighted 2 yrs ago, but is seemingly ongoing
- A utter absence of sufficient training and experience
I can't believe what I've just watched.
A Jewish lawyer wearing a Star of David was arrested after the police alleged the symbol had "antagonised" pro-Palestine protesters.
He was handcuffed and detained by police for almost TEN hours. DISGUSTING!
Shame on you @metpoliceuk.
Just been listening to Dal Babu, an old @metpoliceuk colleague and someone I respect, speaking on this on @BBCRadio4 ...... I completely disagree with everything he is saying #rubbish
Wow, so my old force @WMPolice effectively admits it hasn't got the ability or resources to stop public disorder or prevent violence on the streets it polices. Embarrassing and a damning indictment
