Really enjoyed working on this project. In the summer of 2020, we asked ~6,600 individuals if they’d had intimate physical contact with someone they don’t live with (IPCOH) in the month prior, when it was prohibited to reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission. A mixed-methods study 1/3

🆕 #NatsalCOVID paper in @BMJ_Open: 10% of people in Britain had intimate partner contact with people from other households during the first #lockdown. People were generally ‘risk managers’ not ‘risk takers’, and deliberated over how to balance risks.

We found a number of factors were associated w IPCOH including age grp, sexual identity, relationship status & so-called “risk behaviours”. However IPCOH was not undertaken lightly. Our qual work showed, among others things, internal deliberations and attempts to balance risks2/3
