@MrKemple_RE You're right, I think the tweet could be interpreted in different ways. Myself and some others, however, did get the impression that it suggests online courses are a valid solution to a near-nationwide mental health crisis, which we both agree is not at all true.

@MrKemple_RE Definitely not downplaying the seriousness of Covid, but this is just about recognising that many people need far more support than an online course could feasibly provide. We shouldn’t underestimate the damage of Covid, nor the damage on mental health that lockdown brings.

@Ceilidhann Nice idea, however the UK government dictates our curriculum so vehemently that mandatory media studies would simply be designed to perpetuate a certain narrative and stop kids thinking about media critically themselves. Somehow I doubt the bias would be right wing either

@SF_England Hi Amy, the problem is that it doesn't ask how long the placement is which confuses me. Also, if you're getting paid but it's far below the minimum wage, I don't see how it makes sense to get a reduced loan. My second placement will be voluntary too, so i need more funding

@SF_England please can you explain how the maintenance loan is calculated for work placements on your year abroad and what options I'm supposed to select? Eg. there's a tick box 'yes or no' for the question of whether you will be paid, but never asks for the amount [...]
