California (and the entire western US) has nowhere near as many #beavers as it did 250 years ago.
Even so, it only takes a few families of beavers tucked away in secluded canyons and valleys to give us a glimpse of what many of our waterways used to look like.
@CAgovernor calculates he can ignore conservation minded Californians (which are many) and the law, because DiFi told him so. We'll see.

"[Beavers] not only drench certain landscapes in cold water but also help cool the air. They even make forests and grasslands less likely to burn.
This is especially important right now."

Congrats @winnememwintu Tribe on the homecoming for endangered chinook salmon. The Shasta Dam prevented salmon movement for 80 years, but now there is hope. Joyful to see Indigenous children involved! #EarthOptimism#IndigenousScience#TEK@Run4Salmon https://t.co/22SKf977A1
In #California Truth and Healing means #landback & bringing #salmonback by taking down dams and restoring rivers flows and water quality.

Unfortunately @ReddingNewsFeed couldn’t find an accurate photo. No salmon fry we’re dumped into the water. The introduction took the form of fertilized eggs being carefully introduced to an incubation barrel by young Indigenous children. Ask us next time!

This is a historic moment. Thank you to @ChiefCaleenSisk and the @winnememwintu for all your prayers on the @Run4Salmon that made this first step possible https://t.co/xsMuVHTIzE
The second day of paddling down the Sacramento River. The paddlers day they’ve encountered some shallow water that has slowed them down a bit.

The first day on the Sacramento River, paddling in water released from Shasta dam from the Sacramento, McCloud and Pit rivers, as well as water taken from the Trinity River, which is piped through a tunnel through a mountain and dumped below the dam, into a different watershed.
Leon takes a turn in the run to the Confluence of Sacramento River and Cow Creek. We pray that retuning salmon will turn here to access a volitional swimway proposed by Chief Sisk as the best way to swim in and out of Shasta reservoir and McCloud River.

"This is history for California," @ChiefCaleenSisk said. "It's a glimmer of hope."
