@JulieLovesFluff @TaniaAMarshall It’s a double edge sword. As a decent normal parent we worry about leaving our children with strangers but many children don’t have decent parents & we need to create opportunities where they can speak in private.

when my 4-year-old’s daycare held a “lunch with mom” event, every single mom showed up. we all have other jobs, which is why our kids are in daycare. but we took off work or found a way to get there in the middle of the day. now, they’re doing an event for the dads … at 6:30 in the evening. it’s a small example, but the double standards are real.

@FestAKINBUSOYE @Bozenka_2023 In the decade I spent at the criminal bar 99-09 I had hundreds of youth clients. I can count on one finger the number of times a parent showed up to court. Even when their child was at risk of, and in fact received a custodial sentence.

If the beneficiary group is no longer clearly articulated, or worse ceases to exist in law, justification for ring-fenced resources is weakened in eyes of funders and policymakers
