We’ve just migrated Gladys Assistant from SQLite to @DuckDB for time-series data, and we’re seeing INSANE improvements ! 😲

For context, Gladys Assistant is a smart home software that connects to a wide range of sensors in your home.

Over time, it stores millions of data points, such as the temperature in your garden, your electricity consumption, or the humidity levels in your bathrooms. This data is then used to display detailed charts, helping you monitor and manage your home more effectively.

💾 Users are experiencing up to a 97% reduction in storage space for the same amount of data.

For example, one of our users had a database of 47 GB, which has now shrunk to just 1.5 GB.​

But that’s not all:

⚡ Graphs now load instantly, even over long data periods.
💾 Backups are faster and more efficient than ever before.
⏱️ Users are reporting twice the speed on their dashboards, and on devices like the Pi 4, the performance is mind-blowing.
