@shegone03@MLB While coaching our best hitter came up to bat. The opposing first baseman told team to be ready. His exact words were he’s going to hit ball hard somewhere. To me that’s what we should be focusing on. Line drive, ground ball, fly ball hit hard somewhere.
@CoachSwit My friend son had that happen. Started out JUCO and made D1 after two impressive years there. Had a kid who played with my son 92-94 and went D1. Struggled because he had little movement. Kids that can actually pitch will be effective at and college level.
@CoachSwit I coached a kid in high school whose batting average wasn’t great. He was consistently on base with a walk or hit by pitch. The funny thing is he hated to get hit but wouldn’t avoid it like a lot of kids. He scored so many times by doing those things.
@CoachSwit Travel ball at one time was elite. Now with so many levels it’s a cash cow for organizers and facilities hosting the tournaments. The worst part about it as a junior high and high school coach are kids who think they are better than what they are because they are on a travel team
