The mother of a 16-year-old boy missing after a New Year’s Eve fire that tore through a popular bar at a Swiss ski resort is pleading for information as families wait for answers. The intensity of the deadly fire has left authorities with grim work to identify badly burned remains, which they say may take days.

Laetitia Brodard-Sitre, who has been lingering near the site hoping for information about her son Arthur, says she does not know whether her son is alive or dead, how severe his burns may be, or whether he is identifiable. She and other families have submitted DNA samples and are now facing what she describes as an “unimaginable” wait to learn the fate of their children after the fire.
