Senator Magnus Abe's statement that without federal structure and state structure, no single governor can win an election in Nigeria. This statement opens a new set of arguments in our Nigerian democratic system.

The statement opens the reality that Nigerian votes don't elect our leaders. The statement brings the reality that electoral umpires are participants in this structure.

You sit in a radio station, calling corruption and electoral manipulators "structure."

Let's look at Abia State. Alex Otti, without federal and state backing, won the election because the INEC commissioner decided to let the people's votes count.

This reality Magnus Abe is talking about is fraudulent. How Nigerians' votes are suppressed can never be possible without INEC.

In today's INEC, Nyesom Wike, who claimed to have an enormous structure, has his cousin as an INEC commissioner. These are the structures Abe is talking about, not people's force.

Therefore, following Abe's political postulation, democracy is a federal and state structure without the people. This level of impunity preached by a learned ilk brings nothing but decay in our institutional democracy.

Our democracy is threatened.

The people must act to take their place and relegate people like Magnus Abe, who is waiting for a structure to emancipate the Ogoni from the shackles of Ikwerre dominance.
