My wife and I were arguing about our grocery bill, so I pulled up an old Target order from February 2020.

28 items.

$64.50.

I rebuilt the exact same cart today.

Same 28 items.
Same store.
No upgrades.
No extras.

$158.30.

That’s $93.80 more for the exact same groceries.

We didn’t suddenly start buying more.

The cart just got 145% more expensive in five years.

They told us inflation was temporary.
They told us it was coming back under control.
They told us the economy was strong.

Apparently our grocery cart didn’t get the memo.

And somehow, not one member of Congress seems to have looked at a grocery receipt in decades.

Because if they had, they’d know exactly what families are feeling.
