Today in Doha, President Kagame met with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani @TamimBinHamad, Amir of the State of Qatar, during his one-day working visit to Qatar.

His Highness welcomed President Kagame at the Amiri Diwan, where the two leaders discussed the strong brotherly relations between Rwanda and Qatar, as well as the continued cooperation between the two countries across key sectors of mutual benefit.

President Kagame and His Highness Sheikh Tamim also exchanged views on regional developments and current international affairs, reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting international peace and security. President Kagame expressed Rwanda’s solidarity and continued support for the people of Qatar.

🌍 "Economic alliances are instruments of power." With that single sentence, His Excellency @oliguinguema, President of the Gabonese Republic, framed his intervention at the Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit in Kigali.

🇪🇺 His method was a mirror held up to Europe. Look closely, the President argued, at how the continent next door was rebuilt after the war. A common currency, the euro. A common visa regime under Schengen. Genuine free movement of people and goods across borders that were once impassable. A continental aerospace champion in Airbus. A flag carrier turned cross-border group in @airfrance -@KLM. Coordinated industrial policy on steel, manufacturing and a Common Agricultural Policy that has shaped European agribusiness for more than half a century. The list is not a tribute, it is evidence.

🛡️ The only domain Europe deliberately kept national, Oligui Nguema noted, is defence. Sovereignty stops at the army. Everywhere else, integration won because integration paid.

🌍 The lesson he drew for Africa is uncompromising. If economic alliances are how Europe became a global power, then a continent of 54 fragmented markets, separate currencies, parallel airlines and uncoordinated industrial policies is structurally locked out of that same power. Africa must build its own alliances, its own continental champions, its own pooled industrial strategies. Not as imitation, but as a sovereign answer to a proven equation.

🇷🇼 The question Kigali is putting on the agenda this week is not whether Africa knows what to do. The blueprint is there, written in another continent's history. The question is whether African leaders will finally act on it together.
