Today, we joined students and staff of the University of Rwanda, College of Education – Rukara Campus, to mark International Day of Democracy.

Together with Hon. @olive_uwamurera, representing @RwandaParliament, we discussed the importance of democracy and the responsibility of citizens, particularly young people, in promoting and safeguarding democratic values.

Rwanda’s Constitution, especially Article 10, recognizes important democratic principles, including the rule of law, political pluralism, respect for fundamental rights and freedoms, accountability, and the participation of citizens in governance. Our discussion explored how young people can actively contribute to strengthening these values in their communities and in the country.

The interaction with the students was engaging and insightful. We sincerely thank the Students’ Guild and the University administration for organizing the event and mobilizing students to participate in large numbers.

Students also raised several practical concerns affecting campus life and their studies, including the need for a better connecting road from the main highway to the Rukara Campus (5kms), challenges relating to student bursaries- which they say is insufficient considering the high cost of living , and the need for additional computers to improve access to learning materials and support their studies.

We appreciate the openness of the discussion and the active participation of the students. Democracy is strengthened when citizens especially young people are informed, engaged and able to participate constructively in matters affecting their communities and their country.

Representatives of the Democratic Green Party of #Rwanda (#Greenparty) are participating in a three-day Digital Communications Training in #Nairobi, bringing together communications professionals from #Rwanda, #Kenya, and #Madagascar.

The training is aimed at strengthening skills in digital content production, strategic communications, and meaningful online engagement to promote civic participation and democratic processes.

The training is organized by the Kenya Parliamentary Human Rights Association (KEPHRA), in partnership with Green Forum Sweden, Adisi Ya Afrika (#AYA), and the Africa Center for Peace, Security & Environmental Affairs (#ACPSEA).

Today, we @DemGreenPartyRw had a successful Political Bureau meeting in @Gasabo_District , Kigali. We launched a new online membership application and database, where members will be able Tonson’u membership fees online and also get a digital membership card. We also launched the new Strategic Plan and Communication strategy. Members also approved the revised internal rules and regulations, new Commisioners and Commision members , as well as new committee members for the Ethics and Audit Committees.
