Independent autopsy preliminary findings on Nolan Xavier Wells (18) released today by forensic pathologist Roger A. Mitchell, Jr., MD (July 19, 2026 report):

• Extensive additional dissections performed (face, posterior head/neck, ribs, pelvis, soft tissues of back, buttocks, arms, and legs). • No fractures found. • No deep tissue injuries identified except one: a 12 × 8-inch focal area of red discoloration in the deep soft tissue of the occipital region (back of the head). No skin laceration or skull fracture associated with it. Etiology unclear; pathologist states it is inconclusive for perimortem injury due to decomposition. Flagged for further investigation.

• Anterior neck structures (hyoid bone, laryngeal/tracheal cartilages, thyroid) were not received with the body (retained by the original pathologist). Posterior neck dissection therefore incomplete; cannot rule out neck injury as a possible contributor.

• Significant limitations noted: prior organ dissection prevented direct examination of airway/lungs for water and stomach contents. State toxicology results were not available at the time of this report.

Classification: Undetermined – Pending Investigation.

The official Mississippi State Medical Examiner autopsy results have not been released.

I interview dozens/hundreds of new grads, nearly every day of the year. These are people with a well-formatted resume and a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from well-regarded US universities and a GPA above 3.6. The majority cannot engineer, cannot function independently, cannot answer basic technical questions. We have watered down standards and inflated grades to the point that a bright, enthusiastic student spending four years in school sends almost no signal at all.

What does? Hard evidence of actually building stuff. There is no substitute for actually doing the thing.
