Great post, and this is part is absolutely spot on!
“There is a difference between defending the person and defending the mistake.
Texas Tech is in an impossible spot. Deep down, they may have hoped the final ruling would remove the decision from their hands. Exhaust every option, support the player, let the process play out, and if he is ruled ineligible, accept it. That is the cleanest outcome for a program trying to balance loyalty, discipline, public pressure, and competitive integrity.”
At this year's Brand Innovation Summit, @DudePerfect CEO Andrew Yaffe challenged teams and leagues to think more like creators 💡
He argued that some of the biggest content opportunities don't come from new assets, but from finding new ways to use the assets teams already have.

NEWS: Utah Athletics hired a consultant company last year to internally review portions of its athletics department and other campus partners.
“It’s just week-to-week survival,” one anonymous staffer said in the report.
Here’s what the report found:

You can’t shelter your child from every hard moment and then expect them to handle adversity when it counts.

Athletic officials from Nebraska and Georgia sent department-wide memos today instructing their coaches and sport deputies not to schedule Texas Tech. If games are already scheduled, the schools may work to cancel the matchups.
Here's Georgia's message:
"This is an unprecedented day in the history of college sports..
Gambling has always been a thick red line and Brendan Sorsby admitted to placing thousands of bets..
Those bets include 40 placed on his own team while he was at Indiana..
He has been legally cleared to play for Texas Tech this season" ~ @PeteThamel #PMSLive
Big 12 ADs tell @YahooSports they’ve had “serious” talks on not playing Texas Tech. One SEC AD says there should be conversations about not playing Tech “in any sports.”
The Brendan Sorsby ruling has left an industry jarred.
“It’s total f***** bullshit.”

"Revenue is king." 👑
That's Colorado AD @flovom. Sell tickets, sell sponsorships, and make sure every facility you have is generating something 365 days a year. Then comes the part, which is taking a hard look at what you're not doing yet that you could be.
That second half is where the real work lives. Lovo is moving on naming rights for Folsom Field and the CU Events Center with good progress toward partnerships, and that's after already landing Mountain States Ford on the indoor practice facility. But he's clear that those assets only work as true partnerships, where the deal has to make sense for the company just as much as it makes sense for CU. That discipline is what matters here, because naming rights done poorly is just a logo bolted onto a building, while naming rights done right becomes a relationship that compounds over time.
The framing I keep coming back to is his line that players and coaches win games while administrations win championships. The revenue infrastructure an athletic department builds is ultimately what gives coaches and athletes what they need to go compete, and every new revenue stream is more resources flowing back into the program.
Good ideas are not the scarce resource in college athletics right now...The differentiator is whether a program is willing to do the harder work of building the partnerships and the infrastructure that turn those ideas into revenue that actually shows up on the books every year.

“In times of war and extreme polarization, sport is one of the few things that brings us closer together.”
“Let us pray this June that sport may be an instrument of peace, encounter, and dialogue among cultures and nations, and that it may promote values such as respect, solidarity, and personal growth.”

The NBA makes an unprecedented move in American pro sports league by punishing the very worst teams in the draft lottery and creating a new system to incentivize winning — after months of meetings and conversations among league, ownership and team stakeholders. A radical response from the NBA to radical behavior, with nearly 8-to-10 teams jockeying for lottery odds down stretch of this season. The new “3-2-1” lottery starts next Draft and lasts through at least 2029.
The @NBA is getting serious at the league office about the future of its local media business for teams (NBA & WNBA squads)

Utah’s AD is in trouble. Depleting a surplus in order to report a minor profit is not a sustainable business model.
Given the hurdles outlined by the state auditor I’ll be surprised if the Otro PE deal goes through.
As a senior member of the President’s Roundtable on Fixing College Sports, which has been working with many Senators, House Members, and other key stakeholders, we are encouraged that release of comprehensive legislation could be imminent.
Senators @SenatorCantwell and @tedcruz should be greatly applauded for their bipartisan effort in working to solve a very complex and existential set of problems.
We look forward to continued work in pushing this across the finish line and preserving a great American treasure! 🇺🇸
