A great potential fit for the Padres: Michael Conforto. Left-handed hitter, corner OF, and like Xander Bogaerts, a Scott Boras client. Could hit sixth or seventh or eighth in that lineup and do major damage if healthy.
There’s so much about the way the Red Sox handled Xander Bogaerts’s situation that doesn’t make sense. For example: they spent more money to sign Yoshida (($105m), a corner OF about the same age as Bogaerts, than they offered Bogaerts, an All-Star SS, in the spring. ($90m).
Outside of Bellinger, Michael Conforto is one of the best cheap high upside bats on the market. Sounds like the Astros are very much in on him and I would love to see a team like the Rays or Giants take a shot on him.
