these are critical to chips, power infrastructure, and defense. Any movement towards acquiring or somehow gaining access to these resources is a hedge against China's dominance in rare earths

Greenland is strategically important for missile and space detection infrastructure

the gap between Greenland, iceland, and the US is a chokepoint for Russian navy assets that move towards the North Atlantic

the opening of the Northwest passage and the Arctic route will make it even more strategically important as the climate changes

it also denies China access to these minerals
