🚨 SUDAN: in a call launched ahead of the UN Human Rights Council's 60th session, close to 100 NGOs urge @UN_HRC to extend the mandate of the Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) for 2⃣ years 🇸🇩

We also highlight ways of enhancing international attention to Sudan, including:
☑️ Creating more participatory ways to shine a light on the situation by including civil society, victims & survivors in plenary debates on the country.
✅ Recommending that the UN General Assembly submit the FFM’s reports to the Security Council for appropriate action. The latter should: (i) Expand the #ICC's jurisdiction to cover the whole territory of Sudan; and (ii) Adopt targeted measures (including #sanctions) against those most responsible for atrocities.

Wow. New report from @TRACReports says that in November, the immigration court backlog hit 3 million cases for the first time ever.

The *average* asylum case is now pending for almost 4 year until a final hearing on an asylum application.

We need resources to fix this—and more.

From FB Brookland: "Sad to post that 2 brothers, employees of the Pollo Company on 4th St, were shot and killed last night around midnight. There is a GoFundMe set up for funeral expenses.

The Pollo Company posted the GoFundMe link with the following message, "We are reaching out with heavy hearts to share the devastating news of the passing of two brothers and great employees of The Pollo Co who fell victim to a violent crime in our neighborhood.

The grief and shock reverberate through their family and the entire community. In this trying time, we are coming together to provide support to the grieving family as they navigate the emotional and financial challenges that accompany such a tragic loss."
