Compute really is king.

Goes to show that both Openai and Anthropic better hope they can stay ahead of SpaceX and to a lesser extent (for now) Google in model quality.

Because if those two ever catch up, they'll be able to dominate the market by sheer compute capability.

This timing for this announcement does temper DevDay excitement for me most definitely. Especially if rumors of no new model is true.

I'm excited but at the same time skeptical because I think everyone knows a lot of those releases will most likely be hardware and software (Codex app, CLI) updates.

The idea that “bottom 2%” only means poor, non-criminal citizens is laughable.

People who make posts like that know what most people mean by it: criminals, violent and seriously mentally unwell people, scammers, and folks living off the system with zero interest in fixing their own life.

They know that. They’d just rather reframe the argument into “you want to erase the nice old lady in a broken apartment” or “the family whose dad just got laid off,” because that’s easier to fight than the actual point.

The idea that the bottom 2 percent only includes poor non criminal citizens is laughable.

People who make posts like that know that when people refer to the bottom two percent of individuals most people are talking about criminals, violent mentally unwell people as well as scammers and those who live off the government with no plans for self improvement.

They know this but they’d rather misconstrue the point and reframe the argument to only mean the nice poor old woman who lives in her broken down apartment or the family whose dad just got laid off.

Honestly starting the week already feeling kinda good?
1. Starship actually made it to orbit (still can’t believe I got to watch that live)
2. The AI news stopped sounding like pure hype and more like people shipping stuff
3. Muse AI starting to show the average person how AI can actually benefit them

From the standpoint of a hobbyist the future is actually starting to show up from what I thought of when I was a kid.

And lately it stopped feeling like a toy.
I was able to make a genuinely useful dashboard that I use at work everyday. Actually made my job a lot more streamlined.
If that’s not the “something changed” moment, I don’t know what is.
