With all the situation monitoring and online “expertise,” I’m starting a new venture.
The “Stay In Your Lane Academy for Safe Driving and Online Discourse,” coming soon!
@DamenClegg@VolGov53 You’re right, it’s income delivered through other means.
It’s like how when you work for a company, you get a reduced rate on your health insurance. They could just give you that in cash to use towards insurance (and probably get a worse plan) but it’s still income on your W2.
@agupta Why?
Because she couldn’t answer questions about personnel decisions that weren’t about Scott Pelley himself with HR in the room?
That’s protocol anyway you go, from the shiniest ivory tower to the local trash dump.
@WeTheBrandon I didn’t think that I would have to explain this, but there is a rather thick and defined line between “questioning authority in search of the truth” and “being an asshole to my new boss because I’m the alpha.”
Pelley chose the latter. Natural consequences.
When 60 Minutes is in trouble, we are all in trouble. When Pelley says CBS is meddling in his reporting for political reasons, believe it. https://t.co/lWpjdv1Unm
Oh good grief.
If it is such a brilliant newsmagazine, it would have broken open the fraud in Minnesota, questioned whether the White House was covering for Biden’s cognitive decline, and would have investigated every billionaire donor of both major parties.
By firing Scott Pelley, editor-in-chief of CBS News Bari Weiss has single-handedly destroyed the most brilliant investigative newsmagazine in network history, 60 Minutes. Weiss exemplifies everything MAGA is about: ego, incompetence, and blithering idiocy.
Scott Pelley fires back at "60 Minutes" after being fired and says Paramount-Skydance is weakening the news show "apparently to curry favor with the Trump administration."
“Last month, '60 Minutes' lost its DNA when our entire senior leadership and two of our best on-air correspondents were cruelly fired without cause. Good people were silenced because they stood up for our audience. They stood for fairness against the forces of political bias; they stood for professionalism against chaos... Recently, politicians have been invited to choose correspondents for interviews on the broadcast. Giving politicians control over '60 Minutes' interviews is not how this is done. Incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc."

There are two kinds of people on this app this morning:
1. People who think that being a journalist should save you from the consequences of being a complete asshole to your new boss.
2. People who aren’t malignant narcissists.
Jimmy, you and Scott are what is wrong with journalism.
Trump is not a journalist, he’s a politician. He’s supposed to be larger than life.
Your job was to REPORT the story, and let people decide who Trump is.
You are a cancer on serious journalism.
When I called out Trump years ago for being a danger to democracy, a free press, and truth itself, I was accused of making myself the story and showboating. How did things turn out? Trump is all of those things. Tonight, the free press is very much in danger in America. Wake up!
#SCOOP: Scott Pelley had a meeting with CBS News leadership at 5pm ET to discuss a path forward after his protest in 60 Minutes all-hands. The two sides did not find common ground and it now seems likely he will either resign or be fired, though neither has happened yet.
More to come… @PuckNews
@HowardKurtz The same way they did when other “irreplaceable” famous faces retired or quit.
By turning on their TV and changing the channel to the local CBS affiliate.
The idea that turnover would somehow wreck a show that has been on the air longer than I have been alive is laughable.
