There is mass lawbreaking going on in this city, with hardly a single cyclist nowadays obeying a red traffic light & pedestrians put at great risk, but neither @MayorofLondon@SadiqKhan nor the boroughs nor the @metpoliceuk are doing a damn thing about it.
Sends a v bad signal
@clausym@JohnTillUK You need to brush up on your HWC a green light means you may proceed on, but only if the way is clear and you yield to any pedestrians already crossing
The issue at stake is not whether or not cycling is a good thing or whether car drivers cause more casualties but the right of disabled people, pedestrians & bus users to move about without being impeded by floating bus stops or reckless cyclists.
Lifelong cyclist Edward Lucas writes in the Times about floating bus stops: "It is sickening to watch. Pedestrians (not only blind — also old, frail or just timid) wait nervously and cross hurriedly. Most make it; some are sent flying. A plot twist in this horrid thriller is that some cyclists who do stop get hit from behind by their heedless fellow travellers."
'The Department for Transport’s latest road safety statistics reveal 4,391 cyclists were killed or seriously injured across Great Britain in 2025 – an over 50 per cent increase on 2019.'
Ollie Corfe says, 'I’m fed up with a despicable minority not only giving the rest of us a bad name, but making all of us less safe' ⤵️

Thank you for everyone sharing this - floating bus stops are not safe or accessible for blind people. @andyburnham please stop building anymore, ones being constructed right now will not be any safer or anymore accessible than existing ones. We need urgent action.
In the middle of a cost of living crisis, @SadiqKhan rakes in £750 every hour from bus lane fines after cash he's netted from them rockets 400 per cent to £6.6million, sparking fresh accusations of a @ukLabour 'war on motorists' https://t.co/OY0FCP3Djn
They may have increased cycle lanes fivefold, but the number of people cycling hasn't increased accordingly, so that money could have been better spent on public transport which could have benefitted many, many more people!
