We have officers back in Sanday today. They will be carrying out community engagement surgeries, visibility patrols, traffic enforcement, schools visits and possibly emu welfare checks...
Surgery is likely to be at the fire station between 2pm and 4pm.
A few photos of an impromptu visit from #Sanday School!
Fortunately, Constable Price was available to speak with them outside. Although with @odd_zoe walking past, she may have stolen some of Constable Prices' thunder!

@suziemdick@edublether The Authority made some meetings and trainings only 2 hours long in response to complaints by Mainland HTs, but still a whole day away for me
@suziemdick@edublether As a new Head Teacher in a new Authority for me, I am expected to attend courses that I may have done with my previous authority. They are sometimes 9 to 5 to make them full and worthwhile but due to lack of planes and ferries that means 2 nights away from home.
@suziemdick@edublether Having previously worked in remote Scottish schools I noticed that a reluctance to take part in and attend meetings and trainings was detrimental to career prospects
@suziemdick@edublether HMIE tried to Skype with me today and failed, I do not blame them, or me :) but I live and work on remote North Island in the Orkney Islands
@suziemdick@edublether There are plenty of opportunities for professional development but to physically attend means missing far more time away from school than when you live in an urban and connected area
