In preparing for my @histassoc talk (2024) I've become so excited about one of my stories that I want to share it now! This is Eunice Foote. Her story does so much, helping me wrestle with silences, significance, climate change, and curricular coherence. https://t.co/mUhcRdyoKC
I love old history textbooks! Here are four series from the late 1960s & early ‘70s that I find particularly interesting.
They’re all quite different in many ways – but are there things they can teach us about shaping resources for history lessons?

What’s the worst development in history teaching over the last fifty years?
Here’s what I think it might be, written up as a long-ish thread. It’s half an ‘old man yells at cloud’ rant and half a summary of my workshop at the #Soane24 conference.

UPDATED TO JANUARY 2024: Index of all Teaching History articles: 1998-2023. Find articles using CTRL + F and add the author's name or phrase in the title. My highlights from 2023... https://t.co/5dDobbu4tt

@Mr_RKeogh@histassoc Here’s the first lesson of the Restoration enquiry. That’s c. 700 words introducing the conceptual focus and some first examples for pupils to hook into the EQ. We use PPT only for big, whole-screen pictures to go with the text (key people, places, etc).
I’ve written up some thoughts and tips here for @histassoc on planning enquiries in history – especially the practical, nuts and bolts side of things that helps to make the curricular thinking land.
Hope it can be useful!
