#SAGACohort is a scientific study by the University of Iceland that aims to increase knowledge of the effects of trauma in the course of life on woman's health
Our postdocs and doctoral students also presented their projects. A big congratulations to @Yue_surpassyue, who won the Ministry of Health's award for promising investigators in the field of health or health promotion🎉

At the 21st Biomedical and Health Sciences conference @UnnurAValdimars gave an interesting talk on "Trauma and stress – one of the main public health challenges of the 21st century"🧡
Our very own @UnnurAValdimars @uni_iceland gave a plenary lecture at #EPA2023 on long-term mental and physical outcomes among war migrants. The talk emphasized that this is a highly vulnerable group in need of long-term health surveillance – and how we can do better.
.@EddaBjorkT is an assistant professor at @CPHIceland, @uni_iceland and a clinical psychologist at @Landspitali. She is a researcher for @SAGACohort and @COVIDMENT. Her main research focus is on the effects of trauma on health, particularly #PTSD and sleep problems.
We really enjoyed listening to all the fascinating talks and making new friends at the @ISTSSnews conference🧡 Here are our representatives from @CPHIceland 🫶
@UnnurAValdimars gave a talk as a keynote speaker and, Hilda and @ingibjorg presented their Ph.D. projects!

Looking forward to hearing @UnnurAValdimars give a talk at the #ISTSS2022 conference this Thursday on the opportunities from the Nordic registers for an improved understanding of trauma‐related disorders in general health & disease 🫶
A warm welcome to Dr. @UnnurAValdimars, our #ISTSS2022 keynote speaker from chilly Iceland! She'll speak on the opportunities from the Nordic registers for improved understanding
of trauma‐related disorders in general health & disease on Nov. 10 at 8AM in

.@thoraspelund, professor of biostatistics and senior researcher in @SAGACohort, @COVIDMENT, and Icelandic Heart Association is ranked nr. 6 among Icelandic scientists in medical sciences according to https://t.co/eGdnsIpeSr. Proud collaborators at @uni_iceland congratulate Thor!
Hilda Björk Daníelsdóttir is a Ph.D. student in epidemiology at @CPHIceland where one of her research projects aims to determine the genetic and environmental contributions to resilience following childhood trauma. Hilda recently presented her results at #WCPG2022 in Florence.
One important aspect of science is sharing the knowledge gained in research. At the @ISPS conference in Perugia, @UnnurAValdimars, professor of epidemiology at the @CPHIceland gave a talk about the human health response to major trauma and life adversities.
Rebekka Lynch is a physician and a Ph.D. student in public health at @CPHIceland where her focus is on the psycho-physiological sequelae of violence against women.
Her results suggest that violence exposure is associated with higher cortisol levels.
Recent findings from @SAGACohort suggest a third of women report lifetime exposure to sexual harassment/violence and 8% report exposure in their current workplace.
The highest prevalence of current workplace sexual harassment/violence was among women working as public figures.
Looking forward to hearing keynote speaker @UnnurAValdimars, the @SAGACohort study's guarantor, give a talk about trauma- and stress-related disorders and the development of somatic disease, at @ISTSSnews in Atlanta next November!

Our latest findings from the @SAGACohort highlight how widespread workplace sexual harassment and violence is among women residing in Iceland, particularly among young women and those who work shifts.
