@RokoMijic Celsius is great for scientists, especially for biologists and synthetic chemists. Because we actually care about the phase change of water.
@RokoMijic The Mid-Atlantic states are a temperate climate and rarely have either air temperatures or wind chill/heat indexes outside of the 0-100 F scale. It's extremely useful in that climate.
Also a good metric for noting areas with more extreme climates: 100+ deserts and <0 winters
I love this and I love living in communities where this is true. My teen is learning this with her first job, where she is excelling and getting recognized.
But "progressive" policies like minimum wage and work permits have made it extremely hard for youths to experience this.
To the Americans:
I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States.
And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness:
You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence.
This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns.
Success is equated with exploitation.
Ambition is looked upon with contempt.
This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom.
But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated.
This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet.
And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America:
Thank God for the United States.
Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man.
Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners.
Long may your admirable country dominate the world.
Long may your freedom and hope provide an example to those suffering everywhere at the hands of their malevolent states.
May your two and a half centuries of unparallelled success be just the beginning.
Your country is the light of the world, and the city on the hill.
Thank God for the USA.
Happy 250th.
Dr. Jordan B. Peterson
Happy 250th freedom anniversary! 🇺🇸 I am fighting for the freedom of Ian Freeman, Keonne Rodriguez, William Hill, Roman Storm, Roman Sterlingov, and Nevin Shetty. Please keep them in your prayers. Four of them are in federal prison right now, wrongfully incarcerated due to Biden's weaponization of the DOJ. One is reporting in later this month. One is awaiting retrial.
We are so blessed to live in the freest country on earth but we still have a lot of clean up work to do.
Yes, the national Libertarian Party is under control of woke, leftists now. There are a few reasons for that, and a few pros and cons. ⬇️
Reasons:
1⃣Leftist infiltration is a very real thing - by Soros Foundation, Ranked Choice Voting orgs, and similar left wing operations. They are organized, but most importantly they are FUNDED.
2⃣Leftist infiltrators are vicious, amoral people who have zero qualms outright lying about other libertarians and trying to ruin their lives. This makes it difficult to retain quality people, especially unpaid volunteers.
3⃣While there have been some very generous donors in the libertarian movement and I am extremely grateful for their past help and involvement, they have mostly moved on and do not want to fund the Mises Caucus or the Libertarian Party anymore. They have other projects they are vested in. Right wing libertarians need to step up and donate to counter leftist tactics.
4⃣Like funding, major outlets for recruitment have also dried up as podcasters have shifted their focus elsewhere. New recruitment funnels take time to organize. I set up a few of them, but it is difficult to redirect the whole ship without complete buy-in and alignment from caucus members, and without their active participation. Many of them are still laser focused on the issues and projects that first brought them to the caucus, which is understandable.
CONS
👎The biggest, most obvious con is that leftist control of the national party ruins the branding of Libertarianism. We are all viewed as disgusting degenerates who want open borders, public drug use and homelessness, child sex changes and abortion. Not ideal, and not representative of most libertarians. Many libertarians are very socially conservative.
👎The other big con is that these leftists who wear libertarianism as a skin suit do it in order to disrupt politics and get Democrats in power. They do not want to advance liberty; they want to advance globalism, socialism, and anarcho tyranny.
PROS
👍With the Chase Oliver campaign (and now likely the Michigan Senate race) the mask is so fully dropped that even the average uninformed voter became aware of the con game and opted not to vote for Chase. "Voting and gender are nonbinary!" did not appeal to the masses. Neither did the rainbow cape. If the national party is allowed, or encouraged, to go full retard, they will eventually stop doing damage to GOP campaigns and start splitting the vote on the left.
👍An argument can be made that a bad national party forces good libertarians into the GOP and makes it better. I don't personally subscribe to this take, but others do.
🤔What Can Be Done About It?
Well, if you want to see a change, you have to show up, even if your favorite podcaster doesn't talk about it anymore. The Mises Caucus needs new donors and members. (IE, people NOT ACTIVE in the caucus need to step up.)
They need to scale back the asks of their volunteers to avoid burnout, and they (IMO) need their die hard members to shift direction towards making real advances in politics and away from podcaster worship and internet drama. They need to cut deals with the GOP in select races (not all races) and fully lean into it. There are a few, rare circumstances where it is appropriate to do the same with Democrats.
They need to stop adopting the toxic 'crabs in a bucket' behavior of the Libertarians who were in the party before us. 🚫🦀🦀🦀
Likely, a new organized caucus from an entirely new recruitment funnel needs to develop, but that caucus MUST work with the MC in order to avoid the pitfalls and toxicity of internal party politics. This is not the time or place for people totally new to politics to jump in and lead.
Until these things happen, Soros money and leftist agitators will continue to run roughshod over the name "libertarian".
Staying happy warriors active in politics while taking the inevitable losses in stride is what's needed. Don't wait for either SCOTUS to save you from the world or for the shooting to start, and don't expect total victory from one election. Local office, issue coalitions, et al.
Two crypto pioneers, three Enemies Of The State. This clip features Ian Freeman (Free Talk Live) reporting on Ian Smith and Atilis Gym's asset seizure while Roger Ver promotes uncensorable crowdfunding to keep the gym and the resistance to the lockdowns going.
Today, while Ian Smith was victorious in his legal battles, both Ian Freeman and Roger Ver have faced the full weight of the state. Ian is serving an eight-year sentence, and Roger is now barred from contradicting the government for 2+ years with a gag order.

Finally listened to the leaked audio recording. It was actually less scandalous by far than what the Party Justice Warriors have been saying. I think he was dumbfounded by the candidate's response. I was.
"I haven't spent much time in Washington."
Doomed to irrelevance
@NannyBananna@ZubyMusic Exactly opposite of my experience. The one "fat kid" in the class in the 80s and 90s was trimmer than (many more) kids I see now.
So long as the US continues to unconditionally support Israel, there can be no lasting peace because Israel will act to ensure the wars continue.
No more war with Iran. Vacate the Middle East. Defund Israel.
@RealAngelaMc I know a lot of programmers. They can solve problems that I struggle with. Imagine seeing a problem, knowing you have a way to improve it, and just doing it. Then getting thrown in a cage for it.
Ian Freeman is a political prisoner whose only "offense" was helping people use digital currency. It's time to end this injustice: bring Ian home and restore his freedom.
Crypto is not a crime.
Free Ian Freeman.
End the Biden war on crypto and free the Crypto Prisoners.
@_Leila Yes my aunt was told her daughter was likely to have Downs and offered the option to abort. After encouragement from my mom, she carried to term. My cousin is now 32 and does not have a genetic disorder.
