During a tour, an employee explains the intricacies of meters in a control room that monitors operations at the plant.
Ground was broken in 1925 for what was to become the first commercial ammonia synthesis plant in the U.S. A dozen years later, the plant developed the technology for making the intermediates needed for the manufacture of nylon.

White Sulphur Springs Holdings LLC, affiliate of Dallas-based Omni Hotels & Resorts, submitted a federal court filing Thursday seeking receivership for the historic Greenbrier Resort and web of related companies.
Revealed Friday, the request from the newly formed firm follows it buying $289.48 million in loans, subsequently reduced to judgments, related to entities in which Justice had an interest, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing last month from the seller of the loans, Carter Bankshares, Inc., parent company of Martinsville, Virginia-based Carter Bank.
The Omni affiliate specifies in its filing that while it owns judgments secured by property interests like coal mining assets unrelated to The Greenbrier Resort, the plaintiff seeks only a receiver over the defendant companies and their property interests comprising the resort.
