@SamsonMKasumba Linking voting rights to tax payments is a dangerous and undemocratic idea. Voting is a fundamental right, not a privilege reserved only for those who pay taxes. Such a system would disenfranchise millions students, low-income earners, the unemployed, and others who contribute.
I’m relieved to see the US continuing its support for HIV treatment during this review. This decision underscores the importance of sustained global efforts in the fight against AIDS. Let’s remain committed to achieving #EndAIDS and ensuring access to treatment for all. 💪
I welcome the decision by the US Secretary of State @StateDept to continue life-saving HIV treatment during the ongoing review of 🇺🇸 foreign development assistance.
This urgent decision restores hope to millions of people living with HIV, to keep us on track to #endAIDS.

The abduction and subsequent charges against Dr. Besigye and his aide raise serious concerns about the state of justice and political freedom in Uganda. The Supreme Court's intervention is a step in the right direction, but the continued incarceration is troubling. #FreeBesigye
PHOTOS: Veteran opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye and his aide, Hajj Obeid Lutale, appear before the High Court Civil Division in Kampala for the hearing of a habeas corpus application seeking their release from incarceration. The two have been on remand since November of last year following their abduction from Nairobi, Kenya. They were subsequently charged with security-related offenses and later treachery at the General Court Martial. However, in a ruling last month, the Supreme Court halted the trial of civilians in military courts. #MonitorUpdates

@DailyMonitor This is a critical moment for justice and human rights in Uganda. Dr. Besigye and his aide deserve a fair trial in a civilian court, as the Supreme Court has rightly ruled. The use of military courts for civilians undermines the rule of law. #JusticeForAll#HumanRightsViolations
