Historical fiction of the kidnap of a young Yoruba king, pregnant wife & child in 1830s Lagos by slave traders and their fight for survival & redemption
Saro by Nikę Campbell.
I particularly enjoyed this book because of how well the writer explored the historical element of the book. The end made me really emotional because I hoped but I guess all is well that ends well. The themes: community, betrayal, slave trade and love.
Nike Campbell’s Saro was what made me finally get kindle unlimited because I couldn’t find that book anywhere. Best decision. She’s in her historical fiction bag
