Sometimes, anger gets the best of us (Thank you all for the fun comments and positive vibes, I have a feeling the next few months will be peak Destiny 2 comradery! PS Twitter saw it first this time)
I wonder if Xur's inventory this week is intentional?
If you read the flavor texts of the exotics and catalysts featured this week (minus Hawkmoon as it's always here), the message is something like:
"Our tools were shoddy, but we made it work (Arbalest). Now, have joy, and sing one last time (Riskrunner). Despite the treachery, the game still stood (Queenbreaker's); and, though we were limited despite having so many great ideas (Borealis), we have hope that the game will live again (Heir Apparent)."
With a little imagination, the legendaries can be read in a similar way (though there is more emphasis on the actual weapon names):
"This is the Nature of the Beast: A Deadpan Delivery when we were eager (flavor text on Seventh Seraph Saw) to keep pushing when the game was doing well. Farewell, we were Duty Bound to be the First in and the Last out. Now, take your place among the company of heroes (Berenger's Memory flavor text) as we face the Abyssal Edge."
Just the message for easier reading:
"Our tools were shoddy, but we made it work. Now, have joy, and sing one last time. Despite the treachery, the game still stood; and, though we were limited despite having so many great ideas, we have hope that the game will live again. This, though, is the Nature of the Beast: A Deadpan Delivery when we were eager to keep pushing when the game was doing well. Farewell, we were Duty Bound to be the First in and the Last out. Now, take your place among the company of heroes as we face the Abyssal Edge."
This is 100% schizoposting, but it was a fun project to take my mind off the impending doom for like 15 minutes.
At its best, content was a machine to create memories and friendships. No new content stings.
This pain is about losing a place where so many memories were made. It stings not because of what it was, but the realization of what it won't be.
There is literally no gaming experience like a contest raid release and the fact that I might never have another one in my lifetime feels so devastating man...
I dont think anything in gaming will ever recapture the feelings i felt playing Destiny.
I got Destiny on my 10th birthday and ive played it ever since. It was my comfort game through depression, epilepsy, anxiety and when i felt like life wasnt worth living. Thank you bungie.
destiny was unironically the one constant in my life since it came out like no matter what i could always come back to it, it was my comfort zone as embarrassing as it is to admit, combine that with no other game ever feeling the same for me, yeah i am seriously really upset

For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2.
As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.
Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to.
We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us.
From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.
So, it's over.
We all know this is only the end of the Light vs Dark saga, but the feeling i have right now is a mix of grieving and achievment.
Bungie changed many lives with Destiny — mine included. Delivering inspirational artworks for the community i love was my dream job.
Staying up all night watching the raid race and then joining 11 other guardians to kill the Witness is probably the greatest experience I’ve ever had playing Destiny.
What a night
What a decade
What a finally.
