@MaybeAnnatar @KCMiller1225 There is nothing objective about this entire thread.
Just a bunch of angry, hateful ppl who can't tolerate a question or alternative view.
You want tolerance? Give it
I sincerely hope my kid stays goodhearted and wholesome. Trans doesn't bother me. Hateful people do
@MaybeAnnatar @KCMiller1225 Because I want my kid to be ok after the transition? Because I want someone to address issues other than the "miracle cure" transition!
I'm a surgeon. So I am rightfully afraid of complications, chronic pain etc
Also a molecular biologist, so I know HT isn't w/o lifelong risks
@CherryShyGuy @KCMiller1225 Studies suggest a correlation/link/association by the 2. Something about self-perception and difficulty growing past the normal self-questioning phase (IIRC).
Not a slam against trans or autism. Just saying it could be complicating things.
Seriously, no one sees these studies?
@plac0id @KCMiller1225 I don't know who the tweeter is. Just showed up in my timeline and it struck a nerve.
Wish any one of the responses showed even a crumb of support or willingness to explain.
Nothing but hate
@KCMiller1225 I'm a surgeon. So I understand the limitations and complications that go with surgery. Also a molecular biologist so I know hormone therapy isn't harmless.
Not hating on trans (though the responses here are full of hate). I just want to know it's the right thing for my kid
@KCMiller1225 It's a special kind of hell.
Watching a loved one struggle with this.
I have nothing but love and support, no matter the choice.
But not one single physician, therapist etc has even asked about body dysphoria, autism etc
As a physician, I consider this a dereliction of duty
@Demdemeh@hydrangeadoll @KCMiller1225 Not the case at all. I simply am asking for more attention to be paid to these conditions and how they affect mindset. He thi is transition will fix all his problems (ADHD, autism etc) bc no one is even addressing them
@hydrangeadoll @KCMiller1225 Not the case at all. If my initial tweet wasn't clear, i apologize. I simply want attn paid to the effect autism, ADHD,PTSD and anxiety have on mindset. They are ignoring it and offering transition as a cure-all. Setting him up for problems after
@mookraker @KCMiller1225 I think you misunderstand.
Fully in support of autism and trans. He has ADHD, autism, PTSD. A minor. I think it's appropriate to sort out how these things might color his transgender. As it stands, they offer transition as a miracle cure and I think that's a mistake
@apocalypse13th @KCMiller1225 How do you interpret my comment as lack of support?
Because I feel that those caring for my child should look beneath the surface to see if other factors are at play? It's not an either/or scenario.They only see trans and don't bother to address anything else
@jamieelisefoto3 @KCMiller1225 B/c my child allowed me to be present.
B/c i didn't blink an eye when he came out.
B/c we talk a lot about this.
God help him if the community he wants to join is as filled with hate as the lot I've encountered here
Is absolutely no question/discussion allowed?
@GuerrillaMayhem @KCMiller1225 Studies suggest a link/overlap b/t the two.
Def not judging/disapproving of trans.
A hx of a lot of trauma, PTSD, anxiety & not 1 doc has touched on this/how it might be complicating the situation. They simply offer transition as a miracle cure.
A lot of hate in this thread
