Union Finance Minister Smt. @nsitharaman inaugurated the State Bank of India @TheOfficialSBI Branch in Trincomalee, today, during her official visit to Sri Lanka.

H.E. Mr. @S_Thondaman, Governor of Eastern Province, Sri Lanka; Shri Gopal Baglay, India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and Chairman @TheOfficialSBI Shri Dinesh Khara were also present at the inauguration.

After inaugurating the branch, FM Smt. @nsitharaman appreciated that SBI, with its 159 years of significant presence, is the oldest bank in Sri Lanka and continues to grow its business at home and abroad.

During the Sri Lankan economic crisis, SBI's presence in Sri Lanka paved the way for a smooth extension of Line of Credit worth $1 billion by the Govt of India to Sri Lanka.

Besides, SBI Sri Lanka continues to play vital role by supporting corporates in international trade.

SBI in Sri Lanka continues to scale up remittance through a robust #DigitalPlatform via SBI Sri Lanka YONO app and online banking, in addition to the in-branch operations. (1/2)

The continuous efforts of our govt for reducing the NPAs & further strengthening the health of PSBs are now showing tangible results. All 12 PSBs declared net profit of Rs 25,685 cr in Q2FY23 & total Rs 40,991 cr in H1FY23, up by 50% & 31.6%, respectively (y-o-y).(1/2)
