Today, I had the privilege of tuning in to the latest edition of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji’s #MannKiBaat from my office.
It was deeply heartening and a matter of immense pride for all of West Bengal to hear our Hon’ble Prime Minister pay a glowing tribute to the Mahanayak of Indian and Bengali Cinema, the legendary Uttam Kumar, on the landmark occasion of his 100th Birth Centenary which will be celebrated on 3rd September.
PM Modi Ji beautifully highlighted the unmatched cinematic genius, charisma and indelible artistic legacy of Uttam Kumar, whose timeless performances continue to define the cultural soul of Bengali Cinema and inspire generations of storytellers and film lovers across the world.
On behalf of the people of West Bengal, I express our sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for celebrating the immortal legacy of our beloved Mahanayak on this National platform.

The sacred thread of Rakhi is a timeless symbol of love, cultural heritage and unbroken unity.
Deeply honoured to participate in the grand Rakhi Bandhan Utsav 2026 held at Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata, as well as joined the vibrant celebrations across the Bhabanipur Assembly Constituency, celebrating the enduring bond of fraternity alongside sisters, daughters and Police personnel who tied the sacred thread.

Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Government of West Bengal organized the auspicious ceremony themed 'Rashtrabader Bandhan' (Bond of Nationalism) at Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata.
We paid tribute to Kobiguru Rabindranath Tagore and our venerable National icons and shared the joy of Rakhi with dedicated dignitaries, artists, and citizens. Drawing inspiration from Kobiguru Rabindranath Tagore’s historic vision of Rakhi as an instrument of solidarity, we pledged to uphold our cultural legacy, strengthen societal brotherhood and dedicate ourselves to the service of the Nation.

An electric, awe-inspiring atmosphere in Jadavpur today as more than 10,000 proud Citizens came together with one voice to chant the immortal, complete verses of ‘Vande Mataram’ in devotion to Maa Bharati.
Braving the monsoon rain, the Sea of Patriots on the streets, holding the National Tricolour high, proved once again that the soil of West Bengal remains deeply rooted in Nationalism, devotion and reverence for our Motherland. Standing amidst the resounding energy of thousands, holding our sacred Tiranga, filled my heart with immense pride and humility.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Organizers and every single person who made this historic congregation a reality. I was deeply touched by the overwhelming affection from the people, the sacred blessings from respected Saints and the warmth of Sisters who tied Rakhi on my wrist.
The spirit of Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s eternal song continues to guide our resolve. West Bengal will always stand resolute to protect the pride, heritage and integrity of Bharat Mata.

West Bengal Government remains steadfast in its commitment to the welfare and well-being of our dedicated State Government Employees, who work tirelessly to serve the People of West Bengal.
I am pleased to share that the State Cabinet has approved the introduction of a simplified and enhanced "Composite Transfer and Packing Grant", replacing the decades-old Transfer Grant and Packing Allowance system:-
* Financial Relief: Lump-sum grant of up to ₹50,000 or 80% of Basic Pay, sanctioned without requiring receipts.
* Coverage: Full rate for transfers of 30 km or more involving relocation; one-third rate for transfers under 30 km.
* Retirement Support: Extended to retiring employees settling in a new location.
* Timeline: Effective from June 1, 2026 for transfers and May 31, 2026 for retirements.

আজকের এই বিশেষ দিনে আসুন আমরা এই প্রাচীন ও সমৃদ্ধ ভাষাকে নতুন প্রজন্মের কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়ার প্রতিজ্ঞা করি।

It was an absolute honour to have a courtesy meeting with Hon’ble Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ramen Deka Ji, at Kolkata today.
During this cordial interaction at the Lok Bhavan, I had the privilege of welcoming him with a floral bouquet and presenting him with a portrait of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the visionary composer of Vande Mataram and an auspicious memento of Maa Kali.
It was a privilege to receive a traditional artwork representing the rich tribal culture and heritage of Chhattisgarh from the Hon’ble Governor. We shared an engaging and fruitful exchange of thoughts and warm greetings.
