@lifesaPCH@Colter@FreddyLA7@HeardChanda@grok If he’s going to Deep Ellum, and feeling something other than BBQ, let’s send him for some amazing chicken at Brick & Bones. Discovered that amazing hole in the wall last year on my ballpark trip to TX.
@StealTempered@DR_Logix@shipwreckedcrew U1 definitely had a far superior angle, and should have been looking in this direction. They could have gotten this right.
@CoachMModica@fentrocity@balkwhisperer The direction the runner was moving at the beginning of the tag attempt is irrelevant. The path is a straight line from that position to the base at that moment. That your momentum is contributing to you leaving your line is irrelevant.
@ScoringChanges This isn't even remotely close. At point 2 Henderson turns to the runner to make a tag play. Runners position at this moment defines his path to bag. He continued to run further away to avoid tag, significantly breaching the 3 feet. U2 missing this is tough, U1 really botched it.
@harbs16@DesertCatfish7@shipwreckedcrew By that logic, a runner can veer anywhere he wants when out of reach of the fielder. The fielder does not have to be within arms reach to begin the tag attempt. The tag attempt in this case begins at #2, when the fielder completes the act of fielding and turns to meet the runner.
@StealTempered@DR_Logix@shipwreckedcrew Agree, BUT, once the ball has been fielded and the fielder has turned to make a play on the runner, his baseline is established. Baseline is established at #2 on this graphic, however runner continues several feet further away, leaving the baseline defined at point #2
@JaysClubhouse@JomboyMedia Baseline is established at #2. Rule read, rule understood, rule broken, rule mis-applied by the umpires on the field. You can't veer off 20' away from the fielder to "establish a baseline" just because the fielder with the ball can't physically reach you to tag you yet.
@balkwhisperer You can't "re-establish your basepath" by running away from the fielder when he's too far from you to actually tag you. The tag attempt begins when the fielder turns to meet the oncoming runner, even if he's still 20' away.
@UnderdogMLB@afkostka Just admit it umpires... you botched it. 2 of you were in good position to see this and failed. Admit you were wrong and move on.
@Hirsch_Tweets@ByMattWeyrich Badly timed screenshot. This is more accurate. Stop the screenshot when he changes direction with his feet to make a play on the runner, and the runner runs away.
@CrosbyBaseball@DieselOnRadio When I’m visiting a new stadium (been to 31 MLB parks, 24 current), I tend to buy a good seat, stay for ~5 innings, then explore other sections (upper deck, outfield, etc) for 3-4 innings just to take in the whole experience.
