Not true. A fundamental reason why most Native Americans vanished was that they were not even AWARE of themselves as a distinct entity. They resisted White invasion as seperate tribes and bands, never realizing they were all one target and uniting to defend their collective homeland, which they never had a common name for because they were not aware of it as such.
