📣 SCAN Health Plan now ranks among the top 10 Medicare Advantage plans nationally!
“This is a defining moment in SCAN’s nearly five-decade history,” said @sacjai, CEO of SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan. “In a turbulent environment for MA, our growth and market position shows that there is a place for nonprofit health plans built around the needs of those they serve and not shareholders. Rising into the top 10 nationally demonstrates the essential role for mission-driven, nonprofit plans in the future of Medicare Advantage.”
This leap follows a historic Annual Enrollment Period growth in SCAN’s history, during which SCAN added 127,000 new members.
“Our rise in the rankings reflects more than enrollment growth, it reflects trust,” said Karen Schulte, SCAN’s President of Medicare. “Hundreds of thousands of older adults have chosen SCAN, and we are committed to showing them the value of our nonprofit mission, our commitment to service, and our focus on quality and improving health outcomes. This milestone proves that scale and mission are not mutually exclusive. You can grow while staying true to purpose.”

SCAN names industry veteran Aman Bhandari as its first Chief AI Officer to lead enterprise #AI strategy.
“Most organizations in healthcare are still in the early stages of figuring out how to adopt AI responsibly and effectively,” said SCAN CEO @sacjai. “At SCAN, we see AI as a powerful tool not just in traditional areas like risk adjustment, but to support the people doing the work every day, from member services teams to clinicians at the bedside. We’re excited to welcome Aman and the unique combination of technical expertise, policy insight and business leadership he brings as we continue to advance our AI capabilities.”
While many companies house AI solely within technology teams, Bhandari will report to SCAN's Chief People and Transformation Officer, Lindsay Crawley-Herbert, positioning the AI function within SCAN’s People and Transformation organization.
“We believe that successful AI transformation is fundamentally about people,” said Crawley-Herbert. “The challenge with AI isn’t implementing the technology—it’s marrying the complexity of the technology with how the workforce adopts and uses it effectively and ethically. That intersection is where SCAN is focusing its efforts. By placing this role within the People and Transformation team, we are reinforcing that employees are at the heart of AI adoption, and Aman’s expertise makes him exceptionally well positioned to help lead this work forward.”
“SCAN has a powerful mission and an organizational culture that is genuinely committed to AI innovation in service of the populations they care for,” said @GHideas. “What drew me here is the organization’s mission and belief that AI should empower the workforce... SCAN is creating a model for how healthcare organizations can responsibly harness AI to solve real problems.”

About two years ago, I noticed a little extra bounce in my step.
I was having more fun at work than I had in a long time.
Why?
Several factors were at play — but one of the biggest was the presence of a new team member: Senthu Arumugam.
Senthu joined @SCANHealthPlan as our Chief Transformation Officer and quickly added something special to the organization:
High ambition.
A deeply analytical perspective.
And above all, a profound commitment to our mission.
He was a sponge — endlessly curious about the business and the people who power it.
And to top it off, he was just a lot of fun to be around.
I remember calling one of his references before we extended an offer.
They went on and on about what a great guy he was.
Eventually I had to interrupt:
“I get that he’s a great guy. But will he do a great job?”
The answer was an emphatic yes.
And they were right.
Since joining SCAN from @McKinsey, Senthu has made an extraordinary impact — first as Chief Transformation Officer and now as our Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing product, marketing, and sales.
His influence has been both deep and wide — in the big strategic moves and in the small moments that make teams better.
He makes everyone he works with (including me) better.
So I’m especially proud to share that Senthu has been named to @modrnhealthcr prestigious 40 Under 40 list — a well-deserved recognition during a time of major organizational and industry change.
Please join me in congratulating Senthu on this incredible honor.
We’re lucky to have him at SCAN.
Please join us in congratulating SCAN's Chief Commercial Officer, Senthu Arumugam, who has been recognized as one of @modrnhealthcr’s 40 Under 40! The program recognizes the healthcare industry's rising stars age 40 and under who contribute to a culture of innovation and help their organizations achieve and exceed financial, operational and clinical goals.
Under Senthu's leadership, SCAN has seen:
- A 58% year-over-year increase in new member enrollments from 2024 to 2025 and delivered its most successful Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) to date in 2026, enrolling 127,000 new members, a 40.6% increase from 2025.
- A first-of-its kind partnership with Costco, expanding access, convenience, and choice for SCAN members.
- The launch of Health Insurance is Broken, a bold marketing campaign that openly acknowledges the frustrations older adults face with health insurance.
“Senthu possesses the combination of strategic discipline and mission-driven focus required to scale our impact across the American healthcare landscape,” said @sacjai, CEO of SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan. “SCAN is fortunate to have him leading our commercial function; his ability to align growth targets with our mission is the key to our long-term success.”

"As we try to make the transition from being a small regional health plan to a national, not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plan, I think our messaging is and our value proposition is really resonating with members and providers... I think we're at a real inflection point for the company that sets us up to be an even better partner to members and providers and brokers long term."
SCAN's CEO @sacjai and President of Medicare Karen Schulte share insight into SCAN's most successful AEP in history, the transition to becoming a national, not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plan, and the key role of population-specific plans in this @FierceHealth article by @pminemyer: https://t.co/3FbbUbDc6D
SCAN Health Plan, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage (MA) organizations, today announced historic results from the most recent MA Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), achieving 40.6% membership growth and adding 127,000 new members across its six operating states.* Total membership** now stands at approximately 440,000, with annual revenue reaching $8 billion.
“SCAN’s historic growth was not accidental. It was the result of years of preparation, disciplined execution, and deep trust built with providers, brokers, and members,” said @sacjai, CEO of SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan. “At a time when MA is experiencing extraordinary disruption, SCAN is prepared to scale its nonprofit model responsibly because we have invested in the partnerships, quality, and infrastructure needed to support our members.”

We are thrilled to announce the results of last year’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP).
@SCANHealthPlan added 127,000 new members across Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington—representing a nearly 41% increase in our total annual membership.
100% of our rated membership now sits in plans with 4+ STAR ratings.
Nearly 20,000 members joined us through our new partnership with @SutterHealth, an early example of what’s possible when mission-aligned organizations come together.
With this growth, SCAN now serves 440,000 members across six states, with $8.2B in expected revenue.
As I frequently say—we’re just getting started.
I want to express my sincere thanks to our provider and broker partners, whose commitment and collaboration helped make this our strongest AEP ever.
And to the exceptional team at SCAN who led and supported this effort: thank you. This was truly an all-company accomplishment, and I’m proud to work alongside such a dedicated and mission-driven group of people.
