Join us on 21 Nov for the 2025 Skerman lecture featuring Prof Stephanie Gras, La Trobe Uni. She will discuss her lab's work into high-impact human viruses & the immunological basis of variable responses to infection & vaccination. RSVP by 13 Nov- https://t.co/bmiYK7Ztz7 @GrasLab
Dr Summa Bibby (Watterson lab) captured the first high-res images of yellow fever virus, a potentially deadly disease spread by mozzies. The discovery offers new insights into yellow fever biology & may lead to better vaccine design & antiviral strategies. https://t.co/EtxGcM39uS
Exciting work coming from the @JodyPeters20 lab! C6/36 cells can be grown as a suspension culture to efficiently produce ISF chimera vaccines. Congrats everyone!! https://t.co/TRPIaSyK1k
#InternationalWomensDay celebrates the achievements of women! The 2025 leadership team for the #UQ Biotechnology Society is proud to empower the next generation of biotech leaders through professional development, industry & research networking.
Very excited to have been awarded a Thomas Davies Research Grant! Thank you @Science_Academy for supporting EMCRs and congratulations to the other recipients!!!
Fascinating presentation by Dr Connor Scott from The University of Queensland @UQscience who discussed developments in therapeutic targets for Japanese encephalitis #lorneiandi
Feeling very grateful to receive an early career development and ECR oral presentation award at Lorne I&I @The_VIIN An amazing few days in Lorne learning about all types of pathogens and host responses. Great science at a stunning location!
Here we provide evidence of henipaviruses in North America with the discovery of Camp hill virus in the Northern Short-Tailed Shrew, Alabama. Early release article available from EID

Very proud to see the talented @Julian_Sng from the @K_RenfreeShort lab presenting his post-acute sequelae (PASC) of COVID-19 at #AVS12 talking about their mouse adapted model and teasing out the phenotype of PASC.
Delighted to have just published this article with the amazing Meagan Carney (@UQ_News @UQscience ) along with @Julian_Sng@yanshan_zhu and others combining maths with experimental virology.....interdisciplinary work all the way! https://t.co/41KjBy7WQF
New from the RNA Virology lab: We characterized 2021-2022 vaccine & hybrid immunity cohorts for #SARSCoV2 in QLD AUS and generated an ΔORF3-8 attenuated strain. We validated this virus in neutralization assays with sera panel. We hope for future BSL2 use.

Here, we reanalyse support for claims published in mBio on #SARSCoV2 "recombination" with bacteria. We find no evidence that mutations in SARS-CoV-2 VOC originate from homologous fragments in gut microbiota. Thanks to @JVirology for publishing. https://t.co/qCaDPZzyj0
On the last day of #IUMS2024 , @NataleeNewton delivers a captivating and highly aesthetic talk on high resolution structures of tick-borne flaviviruses !
In an Australian dominated session at #IUMS2024 , Alyssa Peterson from @JodyPeters20 and Leon Hugo laboratory talks about vertical transmission and super infection exclusion for insect specific flaviviruses
Continuing on in the emerging viruses and vaccines to fight them session at #IUMS2024 : @ChrisLDMcMillan delivers a comprehensive talk about spatial transcriptomics and antibody analyses of skin delivered vaccines
Emerging viruses and vaccines to fight them: @mikaelagbell from the @JodyPeters20 lab presenting on a recombinant alphavirus platform based on insect specific Yada Yada virus at #IUMS2024
