@MarksLarks@DeboraSinger1 There are a couple of Chagalls in the “Riviera”
Exhibition at @royalacademy. While we were looking an elderly man announced he had just flown in to see “his” Chagall - which he had loaned to the show - in situe. Now I know what ‘Green with envy’ feels like….
@paul43471534@JaneLovesdogs3@ClaireBear__007@RefugeesAtHome Or indeed if you have a male lodger or neighbour. Do landlords ask for DBS checks? I don’t think they can. Look at all those patriots with a history of DV, coercive control & other form.
@SandyofSuffolk@TimTimington Usually 2. At the moment just 1 - my 50th refugee guest. Another one due to arrive this week. So I do know what I’m talking about. But it’s a daft question: do you insist anyone commenting on the NHS builds a hospital ward in their house? Do you have a detention centre upstairs?
@Stevex77@SandyofSuffolk The driving lessons thing is an urban myth spread by one instance found in one council years ago by the Daily Mail (‘nuff said)
Councils Begin Process of Fining Illegal Flag Shaggers and one of the first to receive a fine is the leader of the Raise the Colours campaign, Ryan Bridge who has received a fine for £48,000.

@paul43471534@ClaireBear__007@JaneLovesdogs3 The point of refugees is that they have left, have renounced if you like, are no longer citizens of their home countries and no longer carry those passports. They are looking forward to live in the U.K…
@paul43471534@JaneLovesdogs3@ClaireBear__007 I don’t ask about the practices in the countries my guests have fled from. Because they have had to leave. Either through war or persecution. So it’s not relevant.
@paul43471534@JaneLovesdogs3@ClaireBear__007 The whole of the third world doesn’t want to come here. Do check the facts: most fleeing stay close to their home countries; many more go to other European countries than the U.K. A tiny proportion attempt to come here.
@ClaireBear__007@paul43471534@JaneLovesdogs3 Mostly it’s easier: for many sanctuary-seekers the only issues are displacement, isolation and some (Home Office exacerbated) anxiety. “Homeless White Brits” more likely to have a cocktail of mental health problems and substance abuse. Otherwise much more provision for them.
@paul43471534@ClaireBear__007@JaneLovesdogs3 I do. 50 in the last decade. They aren’t that undocumented. It’s an urban myth really: most sanctuary-seekers hang on to all the documents they can to prove their case.
@JaneLovesdogs3@paul43471534@ClaireBear__007 My 50th @RefugeesAtHome guest arrived on Friday. He is 20 and from Chad. He may stay three weeks or maybe rather longer. Another chap may arrive Monday (we have two spare rooms) So does that mean you haters will listen to what I say? I fear you will find another excuse not to…
@JaneLovesdogs3@ClaireBear__007@paul43471534 Do tell… what are the “proper channels” to apply for asylum? Did you know you cannot apply online or at an embassy, consulate, sea or airport? Or that you have to set foot on the U.K. to claim asylum here. So please explain those channels…
