The 59th Troop Command marked a significant milestone as leadership passed from one dedicated commander to the next during a Change of Command ceremony at McEntire Joint National Guard Base.

Col. Denton Smith relinquished command leaving behind a legacy of excellence, readiness, and commitment to Soldiers and mission.

Lt. Col. Susan Hughes assumed command, bringing with her experience, vision, and a continued dedication to leading from the front.

The ceremony was presided over by Brig. Gen. Linda Riedel, whose presence underscored the importance of this transition and the enduring strength of the organization.

🚁 Seamless Teamwork. Saving Lives. 🚑

U.S. Army aviators from the South Carolina National Guard (2-238th GSAB, 59th ATC) recently joined forces with Oconee County EMS and Prisma Health for a critical joint medical evacuation exercise.

Operating near Lake Jocassee and Seneca, SC, the teams executed intense, scenario-based air missions aboard a UH-60L Black Hawk helicopter.

This critical training focused on:
✅ Extraction and airlift of simulated patients
✅ High-pressure, in-flight triage & life-saving procedures
✅ Rapid patient handoffs between military and civilian medical teams

When every second counts, interoperability is everything. Outstanding work bridging the gap between military readiness and community crisis response! 🇺🇸

U.S. Soldiers and Airmen recently teamed up at Poinsett Range, SC, for an epic air-to-air drone battle hosted by the U.S. Air Forces Central Battle Lab.

This joint exercise pushed the limits of our air-to-air interceptors, focusing on critical warfighting capabilities:

One 10-ton and three 20-ton dump trucks were dispatched out of Batesburg to move approximately 150 tons of salt to Sumter and 100 tons to Bishopville to help improve road conditions.
