Law without enforcement is theatre.
Statutory Compliance is Solicited.
Now, always all ways.
SCO exposes the duplicity and invokes protection.
Everybody Counts.
The SCO now monitors every refusal of temporary accommodation in Scotland.
Section 29 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 is not optional.
The Act a 'cornerstone maybe' but not for sleeping on.
Unlawful gatekeeping ends now.
Every breach will be recorded, escalated, and exposed.
“To deny justice is an injustice; to possess the power to deliver it and refuse is a moral failure.” Judgement day will remember each person behind those failures. @JohnSwinney@S_A_Somerville@Bell45@RuairiKelly_
@HouseBirthRight Give me a break!! U old mince. U neva climbed a ladder in ya life. U dont like heights, everyone knows that. Hav you ever really seen a cockroach in ya life?
When I was in Vietnam in the RAF I was attached to a squadron of cockroach kamikaze pilots, they knew wat kaze meant.
@HouseBirthRight Lucky????? When I worked with Inspectorate, we were on a small vessel in a harbour in cote d'ivoire. Had to inspect cargo before off loading. We opened the hatch cover & could not see the produce, instead millions, perhaps, billions, maybe trillions of cockroaches from Newcastle
Who is holding Scotland’s housing promises to account? Anyone at all? @edinburghpaper Homelessness is not just a political talking point. It is lived reality for people waiting for a home while announcements, strategies and campaigns continue.
Doors Academy’s The Great Housing Con asks what matters most: what has actually changed, who is accountable, and where are the homes?
The people without homes cannot afford for the campaign to become the outcome.

The SNP should listen to former Housing Minister Alex Neil: reform homeless services and get building public housing. Stop pretending it's not possible, people are dying.
FIRST MINISTER, IN 2021 law was passed to let police take an abusive partner out of the home immediately. That power is still not in force. Why should women trust new bills & campaigns when a protection already voted through has not been turned on?
@BBCRadioScot@missconniemac
Women and girls in mixed-sex homeless hotels are not “temporary housing.” . They are unsafe, and usually unlawful after 7 days. will you get them into safe homes now, or keep calling this a council problem?
@JohnSwinney@BBCRadioScot@missconniemac
@HouseBirthRight SPOT ON. We have a plethora of organisations from the police to carers to government that should ensure safeguarding and wellbeing of our vulnerable. What do we have? why do we have it? what is needed to secure the right changes? secure same sex housing.
Schools teach employees they do not teach the necessities like first aid, growing foods, how to care for others or nature, nor how your tax is calculated or that you pay for two houses over a 25 year mortgage but have 1 if you manage 25 years of health and stable employment.
The homeless woman murdered in Central Park was a beloved artist and birdwatcher who made beautiful pieces dedicated to birds. She went by Lee Rogers, but also was known as Elise Bainbridge Hill. Her art was awesome. I hope her life story is shared and not just the grisly details
House-deprived Homelessness and Rough-sleeping is the tip of the iceberg of evil governmental indifference and systemic lack of care for people.
Look at any government in any nation and you will find woeful stories of neglect regarding the homeless and rough-sleepers. Save for perhaps Japan that is indicative of a nation that values its people, the planet is made up of 'powers' that are able to resolve the issue of insufficient housing stock, ensuring homes for all, able to furnish 'wrap around' services for those needing them; yet CHOOSE not to do so.
They are committing a crime against humanity and they should be brought to account for their crime.
Let them know how you feel, write to your politicians, local government councillors.
Remember at commencement of COVID it took Dame Louise Casey to get central government to agree to placing the majority of rough-sleepers indoors.
Also keep in mind it was only a few months later the unwind started, and soon these house-deprived souls were thrown to the streets.
We should not wait to see if @andyburnham has a backbone we should remind him daily of his words and assurances.
Guarantees that are met and sustained are needed.
Likewise we should remember the devolved Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland did not follow England in the same way, at the same speed, or with the same intensity — either when taking people off the streets or when letting the protections fade and people drift back onto them.
@JohnSwinney@S_A_Somerville Scotland did not issue a dramatic “Everyone In”‑style national order. @COSLA Councils acted, but unevenly. Some followed England’s lead quickly; others dragged their feet. Scotland pretended to rely more on existing statutory duties (Section 28/29) rather than a new emergency directive.
WE ALL KNOW SECTION 29 WAS AND IS BREACHED BY COUNCILS DAILY AND THE LEGAL SYSTEM SHUTS ITS EYES.
Scotland didn’t “end” a programme because it never launched a single unified one. Instead, the system quietly reverted to pre‑pandemic behaviour.
The UK’s four nations responded to COVID house-deprived homelessness four different ways, but they all ended up with the same structural failure: Deaths, temporary compassion, permanent austerity.

@formerdecentIS Our experience with journalists is we r competing with 'man bites dog' articles, 'westmoster stealing resources' 'A9 absence of trees', & actual quality reporting on homeless women, any homelessness, is sparse & diluted. Promises but no consistency, they must earn our trust
