For kids under 5, drowning is the #1 cause of unintentional injury-related death.
Supervision in & around water is crucial. Direct, active supervision where your kids have all your focus & attention.
Showers and t-storms will move into/develop across the metro region this evening. Locally heavy rain & frequent lightning likely w/all activity. A few scattered stronger storms could also produce strong winds and/or hail in some parts of the area.
Thunderstorms w/very heavy rainfall and frequent lightning will move across much of metro from now through 5pm. Avoid low lyinig/poor drainage areas. Spotty, mostly small hail and gusty 40-50 mph winds are also possible.
Please be advised the NWS has issued a Tornado Watch valid until 9pm. Primary concern w/thunderstorms this afternoon/evening will be heavy rain that may lead to flooding of low lying/poor drainage areas. An isolated stronger storm or two could also produce strong winds 1/2
Slow moving t-storms will produce very heavy rain of 1-2" per hour across much of Travis & Williamson Cos into northern Hays Co in the near term. Frequent, dangerous lightning also likely. Avoid flood prone/low lying areas if out on the roads this afternoon.
While t-storm development is not certain between 6pm and Midnight tonight, any storm that does form will be capable of producing large hail and strong winds. Wouldn't change plans at this point, but recommend keeping an eye on things during this period.
Rain & thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall rates of 1-2" per hour at times will move SW-NE across the metro area beginning the 1pm hour & will cont into much of the afternoon. Recommend that you avoid low water crossings and other typically flood prone areas this afternoon.

Stephen Broderick is still at large after killing 3 people in NW Austin yesterday. Use caution and be aware of your surroundings when moving about the metro area. Unknown if he fled on foot or by vehicle.

Austin Police Chief Chacon provided an on scene brief today, regarding the incident at Great Hills Trail and Rain Creek Parkway. Please see attached photo of the suspect, Stephen Broderick, 41 years of age, black male who is 5 feet and 7 inches tall.
Classes at @EastViewHS and GAP are cancelled today as a result of power and internet loss. We are being told power may not be restored until later this afternoon. Look for more info from principals later today.
Austin Water has lifted the boil water notice for all customers. Customers no longer need to boil water used for drinking, cooking and, making ice.
