Concerning reports of racist hate crimes against Sikhs in Southampton, Kent and Birmingham over the past few days including a physical assault in a Southampton supermarket. My report for @AJEnglish.

Dear @TalkTV this individual ‘Harman Kapoor’ is a dress up Sikh and does not represent the community in any capacity! He is not even a Sikh but is a foreign actor and agent provocateur stirring up trouble on all sides! Pls be aware. #AntiSikh
Dear @KemiBadenoch please explain your rationale to raise unnecessary fear and questions regards the Sikh articles of faith? This tragic case has not provided favour or protection on religious grounds to the murderer and your intentions to demonise and hold the entire Sikh community responsible as a result are both political and inappropriate. We are more than happy to meet to discuss our concerns and real hate crimes being experienced every day by Sikhs across the UK as a result of such comments.
"Tragic...senseless"
"He brought the Sikh faith into disrepute...those actions do not reflect the community"
"There is no special treatment for Sikhs...this stiff sentence sends a warning"
A statement from community figures Kam Singh and Jas Singh on the Nowak murder case.
Jas Singh, representing the Sikh Federation (UK) @SikhFedUK speaking at a press conference at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Smethwick @GNGSmethwick following the sentencing of Vickrum Digwa for 21 years for the murder of Henry Novak.
The Sikh community has unequivocally condemned in the strongest terms Vickrum Digwa for not only the murder of Henry Novak for which he is solely responsible, but also the lies he has told.
He made the wrong choice, should have pleaded guilty and must now serve his lengthy prison sentence.
A collective of UK Sikh Organisations and Gurdwaras has issued the following statement in response to the media reporting surrounding the trial relating to the shocking and tragic death of Henry Nowak.
STATEMENT FROM THE SIKH COMMUNITY REGARDING THE MEDIA REPORTING OF THE TRIAL RELATING TO THE TRAGIC DEATH OF HENRY NOWAK
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
22 May 2026
On behalf of Sikh organisations and communities across the country, we express our deepest condolences for the tragic loss of life, and our thoughts and prayers remain with the Nowak family and loved ones during this profoundly difficult time.
This incident as reported does not align with the Sikh faith, the Sikh community, or the principles it stands for. Sikh teachings are founded on compassion, justice, humility, responsibility, and service to humanity.
The Sikh community remains peaceful, well-integrated, and a deeply valued part of British society.
We respectfully urge everyone to allow the judicial process to proceed fairly and without prejudice, and to refrain from drawing broad assumptions or judgments about the Sikh faith or Sikh religious practices based on an individual case.
Let us remain united, stay true to our core values, and continue to reject any form of division or negativity-whether intentional or not. Together, we move forward stronger.

LIVE: At Birmingham Crown Court today at the sentencing of racist rapist John Ashby, who in Oct 25 attacked and raped a young Sikh women in her own home in Walsall.
Our young sister was in court today and confronted her attacker with such courage and strength that it had an emotional and moving impact on all in court and the Judge!
In passing sentence of LIFE IMPRISONMENT to Ashby he sited the planning, religiously aggravated and violent nature of the attack and the invasion of her home to commit such a heinous attack!
A small sense of relief of justice for our sister, but nothing will erase the trauma of the abuse and life changing experience.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with her and her family and may Waheguru grant her all the strength and faith to move on and be an inspiration to the community.
🧵1/The UN has issued a stark warning over the case of British Sikh detainee Jagtar Singh Johal.
After more than 8 years in prison in India, UN human rights experts say his continued detention is unlawful, harmful & amounts to psychological torture ⬇️
